jonas, you won't escape me next time... [Oct. 3rd, 2006|07:28 pm]

[mood |anxiousanxious]

so i made it to st. andrews hall just in time to see mew play 5 out of 6 songs. i got lost in detroit of course and had jenny coach me all the way there over the phone. autumn had the other ticket i bought but didn't make it at all due to a flat tire in novi. i walk up and i hear chinaberry tree flowing out the door. i run in and i can't believe they're 20 ft in front of me.. there's only a handful of mew fans there from what i can gather (they opened for kasabian, whom i never heard of)

it was incredible.. i took photos and hollered and clapped and sang along with another diehard frenger next to me. it was unreal and i felt as if i blinked and it was over due to time, i guess. there was another scheduled event after kasabian so everything was rushed. so the set was cut in half and they looked bummed about it too. and so were we but i hope hope hope there will be a next time considering detroit got jipped. hopefully a headlining show. i grabbed the setlist and my t-shirt and mingled with some other fans. i can't remember my sing along partner's name but he said he goes to western. all the way from kalamazoo for 6 songs! they were all songs i hold dear to my heart:

circuitry of the wolf (aka shelter??)
chinaberry tree (aka swanky??)
am i wry? no
156 (don't you just love goodbyes?)
zookeeper's boy (AMAZING!!!!)
comforting sounds

beautiful. inspirational. i fucking love this band.

i stuck around and met Bo. he was really nice. i stuck around even longer waiting to see if jonas & silas ever came back in (no reentry for me).. but alas, i finally go outside to meet them and they were gone! off on the bus during kasabian's set. i wanted to kick myself for not going out earlier because when again am i going to tell the other boys from denmark how much they mean to me. me christine, in piddly little michigan. soon i hope.

LJ Interests meme results

  1. a good laugh:
it seems so rare these days to actually experience a good laugh. not just any old chuckle but that honestly cheerful gut-hurting tear-jerking laugh.
  2. badasses:
i love the thought of people who are tough and the idea of not taking any shit. guess because i grew up a wuss.
  3. christmas lights (inside):
outside is just as wonderful but you only get to see them at christmas time. when i have my christmas lights on in my room it feels so calm, comfortable and magical. what an awesome invention.
  4. dreaming:
    i'm a total dreamer.
  5. erotic art:
i like things that are controversial and sexual to an extent.
  6. mew:
one of the most amazing bands i've come across in the last couple of years. gorgeous music that i'll never get sick of (and they're new album just came out!)
  7. pazuzu:
the demon from the exorcist. was once my greatest fear but now have overcome it.. still hold a bit of an obsession though. i should be pazuzu for halloween!
  8. sculpture:
probably my favorite art category. everything seems to boring compared to it.
  9. silly humor:
not a big fan of comedy, in fact i hate it most times. but there is an innocent almost childlike goofy humor that i appreciate. not booger jokes or anything.. it's hard to explain. something rare that doesn't make any sense. like quoting young frankenstein and doing a jig. or stating that Jaws original title was "Bitey Fish." or recognizing the black & white wallpaper at Big Boy's as the senior photo of Big Boy himself! hahahaa
  10. the future:
oh geez. my constant worry. i've lightened up about it lately but it's still such a vast blank and i think that scares me.

The Bible Way to Heaven

1. Recognize Your Condition
No one is good enough to go to Heaven on his own. No matter how much good we do, we still fall short.
2. Realize the Penalty for Sin
Just as there are wages for good, there is punishment for wrong. The penalty for our sin is eternal death in a place called Hell.
3. Believe Christ Died For you
Christ's great love for us was shown when he died on the cross to pay our sin debt.
4. Trust Christ alone as your Savior
Everlasting life is a gift purchased by the blood os Jesus and offered freely to those call upon Him by faith.

LET US HELP YOU WORD A PRAYER. (REALIZE IT'S NOT MERE WORDS THAT SAVE, BUT YOUR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST.)

Dear Jesus, I know I'm a sinner. Please forgive me for my sins. Jesus, come into my heart and save my soul from Hell. I'm trusting you, and you alone, to take me to Heaven when I die. Thank you for saving me Jesus.
Amen

its kind of creepy when you have to con people into coming to your church with little flyers that read "Bring a friend and ride the bus this Sunday! Win a Little Caeser's Pizza Kit!!!" oh boy!!!
